The timing needs to be set at 22deg and the disty at #1cyl TDC.
Heres the pic.

If it doesnt start, its 180deg out. Pull pull it out and spin it 180deg (or rotate the engine on cycle)

Hey to everyone!! Wow, you mean this post is still alive? haha....I guess you all know....Advance Auto Parts sells a remanned ea82 for 2250.00?? Sheesh. Thats twice what the poor little DL would be worth after the install. I'm trying to figure the math.....Hope everyone is well. I'm lurking everyday...just not working on anything right now.

For almost the same price(maybe even less) you can get a rebuilt from CCR. They only do Subaru engines. I have a EA82T in my RX and it runs great.

Oh yeah, Ram engines does Subies. They price them like Ferraris tho! Of course they make MAD HP out of EA series motors too!

Sorry about the uncle Huck...maybe you'll come down on some better circumstances SOME day... . I don't know if I'm gonna save up and go with a remanned engine or not. I'm really torn...I have two xt's that would be great 'play' cars, but neither runs and I can't seem to fix them. Does it make sense to pour thousands into either of these? What to do???

Are they both good solid cars?
