Fury - in the United States

Postby Fury WRXT on Sat Apr 12, 2014 4:44 pm

Yes, I am back starting the 17th April (start traveling on your 15th Apr) .

I am attending my sons wedding in Orlando FL - DisneyWorld on the 23rd ( he proposed at the Cinderella castle - with the ring in a glass slipper 18 mths ago   )

Anyone in the area, I would be happy to try and catch up, I dont know what my internet access will be, but I will check pm's.
I am also on the XT facebook group and can be PM'ed - Chris Leyland

We go on the 27th to Vancouver briefly, (starting a Glacier Bay inside passage cruise) then return to Seattle and San Francisco from the 7th to 11th May, before heading back to Sydney.

Not many members in FL, last time I tried to catch up with members, there were difficulties on both sides, but I was looking forward to meeting some of you... anyway, great if we can

Oh, I'll be close, really close to the dragon on the 27th... only at about 32 thousand feet!
Exactly between Orlando and Chicago at around 7am :( ( as the crow flies, around 20 miles west of Fontana)

Ill look out the window

SO CLOSE! ( yet so far...)
The tix were booked before the dragon date

So frustrating to come 1/2 way around the world, and to be within sight...

Look out for a UA 737 traveling north around 7am... ( we leave Orlando @6)

I would have seriously loved to have met up with you all.

I'm back in Aus, but I did look down at around 7 am over Fontana on the Sunday morning of the Dragon meet. It was a bit to the east of the flightpath. I gestured a symbolic wave out the window ( but no body waved back... :( ) my Mrs asked why did I wave... on explanation she just shook her head, mumbling something about " boys and toys" and continued to read...

Funny thing was , at the airport in Orlando, I was sitting with a husband and wife couple, who live near Fontana and gave me tips to look out for the town and the Dragon from the plane. They often watch from their home as car clubs drive past - and even a small complaint about the traffic sometimes gets a little frustrating ! I had told them about our forum and they were quite happy to discuss the area. It would seem that the locals make quite a tidy profit from the various clubs according to them.

Anyway, the vacation was great, my son married his fiance in Florida's Disneyworld, we did an inside passage cruise to Alaska (just extraordinarily awesome) Spent a couple of days in San Francisco before heading home. Had 1 rainy day the whole trip, with only a couple of partially cloudy days, rest were perfect. ( even Alaska! )

Oh, 38k feet @ 500 knots is just a little high and fast to successfully jump out of a plane... Not a problem getting down, just a little difficult staying conscious enough to meet and greet ! , but thanks for the encouragement Huck

Glad you had a good trip, and are safely home, maybe one day you can make it over for the Meet :)
