So... I guess I own a GM

Postby xoomer on Sun Dec 05, 2010 4:29 pm

So, My neighbor called me the other day and told me he was hurting for cash and wanted to trade me his car for my XT6, he got my old red one from me. (his screen name Traxxas3.3) anyhow so I traded him my XT and $1100.00, for a 40 year old piece of history. Pics to come... I still have my XT4 turbo... and My brat... And my Mercedes.. My apartment complex is not gonna like me..

Nice....I like the 70-73 Camaro, especially the split bumper ones(yours should be the solid bumper)

I actually own a GM again too (was a Pontiac nut before I went Subaru), and now own a 86 Pontiac Fiero GT...it's actually to be Kelly's Car...
It's Pretty nice, in remarkably good condition, barring a few little glitches I'll have to fix.

The 307 was a Chevy engine but it ended up being used across all the GM brands. Essentially just a 283 block with a 327 crankshaft.

307 was usually a 2bbl carb too, right?

hey huck so now what are you going to do with the SVX that was for Kelly? Love the fiero! There is one FS here locally but I don't want to go see it as I am worried it might come home with me.

It looks like a solid platform, you'll be able to make a really nice ride out of it!

And Matt, yes all the 307's came with a 2 barrel carb...
And that Luguna Blue SVX is now in Austin's possession

I'm currently driving a GM as well. My SVX is apart in the driveway, getting a flexplate, and 4.11 rear diff, so I can go back to AWD. So, I'm driving a '95 olds cutlass supreme sl. 203k mi and it just REFUSES to die. The trans only has 1st,2nd, and reverse. It misses at cruise speeds, but dadgummit it just keeps going. Proof that old GM's will run badly longer than some cars will run.

I have 2 '88 Camaros. My first one was my first car and I still own it (even though neither of them run  ) and it has a 2.8v6 and a BW 5-speed

The second one is my IROC-Z, 350 TPI, 700R4 BW 9-bolt posi with 2.77 gears. Thats my baby even though it'll make me poor getting it running again

No, its Austin (Ratty2Austin) that works there. He's a driver.

Oh and the interior of the black Camaro is a lot darker then the pics make it seem. Its one of 256 that came with a dark carmine red interior instead of the nasty fire engine red interior. Its also the only one that has the 1LE interceptor package in a t-top car. Got copies of the original paperwork from GM when I worked at a dealership in Wyoming.

Mmmm 13" brakes, aluminum calipers, aluminum driveline, 350hp vs 230hp, stage 1 700R4, factory radio delete and a few other goodies :D

I would hope. lol not saying it looks bad. my Camaro never had t-tops but my firebird had bullet proof ones, forgot to clamp one down one time and at about 60mph WOOF! gone. lol not a scratch on it. and is all that you listed factory?!

Yup, all factory. In '88, GM built 4 1LE cars, all hardtops. Mine is #5 but since it had t-tops, GM legally couldn't put the stronger drivetrain into it because of the body flex. So when they did build it, they added in welded subframe connectors from the factory to prevent it. Then they buried it under so much BS in the computer system, it took my old service manager 2 hours on and off trying to find it. I now have copies of all the original paperwork, from the ordering invoice, delivery paperwork to the window sticker.

Value of the car is estimated to be roughly $18k, restored over $45k  Not bad seeing I only paid $500 from the second owner
