1987.5 XT Turbo (now non-turbo), non-running

Postby grossgary on Mon Mar 10, 2014 11:24 pm

I'll probably scrap this and keep the hood/converter/trans so I doubt it's worth it for anyone but i'll toss it up here just in case.

1987.5 XT swapped to non-turbo low-mileage JDM engine
90lk or 100k, manual transmission, grey, paint faded/cracking
I think it should have a new clutch kit on it.
It has run and driven before and I've commuted with it a few times, but wasn't very drivable and currently not running
It would buck and hesitate and have poor power.
It hasn't run other than that in like 10+ years

I understand 100% I just hate to see it happen. If you can't make it run right there is no way I could ever manage to pull it off. The fact that it still could go on the road is amazing to me to be honest with you.

Seriously?

An 87.5? You can't scrap that.

If I hadn't just bought frankenwedge I'd be on my way now.

You can't kill a unicorn. It needs a turbo put back on it and enjoyed.

average, not good, not bad. paint and clear is probably aged, i'd have to take a picture or look again to take notice, all panels are straight, no dings, dents, scratches, or rust or anything like that and it looked sharp when i got it 10 years ago.

Interesting. How long has it been down? I've read that engine swaps for this model year can be problematic (something to do with the ECU seems to be the agreed upon difficulty), but I'm not a mechanic, so I'm not qualified to even guess, much less advise.

Still, if you can get it running reliably, this might be something I could be interested in.
