FS: 1988 XT6 4WD Manual

Hi guys. As some of you may have seen via the Facebook group, I am selling my 85% restored (more on that later) 1988 Subaru XT6 4WD 5-Speed. I bought this car off of the original owner last summer. Over the past year, I have done all of the hard work that you, the next owner, will not have to do.

There's way too much to post here, so if you're seriously interested, let's talk. The short list: 88,500 original miles; clear title; no rust; full engine reseal w/ all OEM gaskets/seals by The Subaru Shop, one of the best Subaru engine builders on the East Coast; new clutch and resurfaced flywheel; replaced air suspension with Ground Control adjustable suspension; significant investment in cosmetics to fix tired paint/dents; refreshed Cybrid power steering system with extensive cleaning and new brushes; functional cold A/C; fresh Kumho tires mounted on rare OZ Rally Route wheels bored out and repainted to fit; incredibly desirable rear window louvers attached. etc., etc., etc.

There is a massive spares package, including duplicate OEM parts I bought just to have "in case" (spares package $ negotiable, includes custom dual-core radiator with metal tanks). I even have a spare manual transmission. Spare headlight washer pumps. Spare power steering pump, wiper motor, headlight motors. Spare dashboard available, along with spare and rare-as-hen's teeth uncracked dash trim surround. All the obsolete parts I was scared I'd need down the line.

I did some mild "tweaking" styling-wise, sourcing an original Turbo hood with the scoop; the older-style rear bumper and center tail light garnish (way cooler); and a trunk lid with the original luggage rack attached. Original hood and bumper were disposed of, but the non-rack trunk is still available.

The car's ills are primarily the remaining cosmetics. I've had fresh paint applied to the driver's side, hood, front and rear bumpers and RX sideskirts. If I were to keep the car, I'd repaint the passenger side and trunk. It's absolutely presentable as-is but I am a perfectionist. The rear KYB struts are noisy and the suspension can be overly firm on serious road abrasions, but otherwise is quite compliant.

Selling to fund a camper conversion of my 1981 Toyota HiAce, which has taken on new urgency with my firstborn on the way. Asking $5500 and car is located near Providence, Rhode Island.

Really a nice car for the price. Someone will end up with a jewel.

Thank you John. You guys were invaluable in it getting to this point.

Didn't expect to be moving on so soon but the arrival of a child has a way of changing one's perspective!
