"If any of you read the May 2003 issue of Car and Driver, you know
they featured a story entitled "Battle of the Beaters." It featured
a Subie XT-6, an old Renault Fuego (sure the last one in existance)
and a Camaro. The all ice raced each other in the story, blah, blah,
blah.
Long story short, I moved to Michigan to take a job at Automobile
Magazine. I owned a Miata and had no winter wheels. My best friend
worked at Car and Driver, where the Subie sat for months. I covered
an autoshow for their website and got the car as a form of payment.
I am now the Road Test Coordinator at Automobile and get a different
car every night. The rusty but trusty machine sits all the time,
other than the occasional weekend start and drive around town.
Like I said, she's rusty but trusty. No A/C, but everything else
works. It has fairly new tires (all of about 5000 miles on them
max.), has had a lovely coil-over converstion with adjustable Konis
and GABs out back. I think it may need a CV joint on the left side
at some point. It makes the familiar "clicking" once the grease is
warmed up a bit, it isn't as bad.
Oh yeah, it's front-wheel-drive. It was AWD but the drive shaft was
removed and the center diff. capped because AWD is against the ice
racing rules. I have the drive shaft and a big boxes of extra parts
if you want them. THe guy who had the car before Car and Driver put
65 miles on it, dumped lots of money in this honey. It has a new
exhaust and intake and it does run really well. Guess his old lady
made him get rid of it because he kept dumping money in it. You can
polish a turd, but it'll always be a turd. A nice running and rusty
turd she is.
I can rustle up pics of the car if anyone wants them, although it may
be a few days. I want 500 bucks or best offer. My email is

The car is in Southfield, MI. I would trust it to drive anywhere.
Sincerely,
Jason Bradley"
