RX8 seats

Postby sikend667 on Thu Nov 29, 2012 9:38 pm

i bought a set of leather heated power seats out of a 05 rx8 that i will be dropping in when they get here. im still looking for the wiring diagrams of the original car so that i can wire them in proper and will post pictures once the project has been completed. any input or questions are welcome. thanks

That'll be interesting looking. I guess if you ever decided to drop a rotary under the hood you'd have the matching headrests for it.

Do you know if they'll fit the framerails or not? I know Phil had such a hard time with his STI seat that he decided it wasn't worth it to do the passenger side. :o

I'd love to do a custom interior. new leather door panels, recover the existing seats w/ leather. I actually like the stock seats in the XT6, but I'd love to have them in leather. And you're right, heated would be nice (even here in FL they're nice in the winter - "cold" is a relative thing). :D

I think out of context it won't give that rotor vibe as much.
the seats in our Eclipse have a triangular hole in the head rest as well.
I don't see that and think rotary.
damn good looking seats.
we almost bought an rx8 but went for the Mitsubishi instead... probably a good call

i personally saw them and thought they were a bit space-age like, cutting edge, and unique. as the build on this car progresses i noitce this kind of being the trend for this car so i figured why the heck not. didnt even notice the triangle as being rotory until it was pointed out to me here lol

2 things on an rx8,

1: it is absolutely ridiculous how man triangle rotor like shapes they put on that vehicle.

2: the oil filter is in an asinine spot

Oh totally agreed. I was just making a joke. I tend to doubt too many people would want to drop in a rotary. High HP/low-ish torque, often need rebuilding after ~60k miles, run REALLY HOT, etc....

Same here - like I say, it's all relative. Took me about a year and a half to two years to get used to 50° being "cold". Even the other night it was in the mid 60s and my daughter turned on the heater on her seat in my wife's Tribeca. She's only ever lived in FL, so winter is winter to her. To me a cold butt is only slightly better than a sweaty butt. (Reminds me, I never did get my A/C sorted out )

I did try to fit my Camry Ultima seats a few weeks ago to my XT... just out of curiosity.... Too damn Wide...
I then took as many measurements as I could while the Original seat was out...
so that IF I'm able to find a WRX Seat of any sort... At least I'll have a better Idea weather it'll fit or not
If anyone is interested in photos and measurements... let me know

I REEEEALLY wanna do this mod!
