xt wiper blade??

anyone know of any aftermarket brand wipers that come with the adaptor to mount on a subaru.. i know in the past (going waaaay back) almost all wipers would come with the adaptor and 2 new screws so you could put them on a subaru. i guess theyre too cheap to put them in the package anymore. as im writing this, i realized i only checked all the 22" wiper blade packages, wonder if the smaller ones will have it??
i purchased a new blade from the dealer, so obviously that fits fine. problem is, id like to put a winter blade on the car for the winter months and i just cant find a wiper with the stupid adaptor.. next time im at advance auto, ill check the smaller size packages and loot one from there if they have them.

i was going to keep this car out of the snow because its so clean. but after i came to my senses, its a subaru, and it just wouldnt be happy to be garaged for the winter. besides, we just rented a seasonal house in upstate new hampshire for snowmobiling, and im not going to drive my 10mpg truck there every time we go up.

Bosch excell. You Have to the mettal piece a little bit but it works... I did it!

they pretty much all come with a set of different clips. one of those should work fine.

IIRC, the last time I bought blades for my loyale (I'm assuming it's the same as the XT wiper arm), they didn't attach exactly the same as stock, but worked just fine.

No aftermarket arms are a direct fit for the XT....you will have to mod them a little to work.
The hole spacing on the XT arm is not the same as most cars...

I just put a Rain X Latitude on my 6.
It did take some modifying. I had to use the inner clip from another brand (Tryco) and had to drill the hole a little bigger for the pin. The pin is the original one from the 6 and it had to be forcibly removed from the mount, without buggering it up.
It was worth it tho. The wiper is great.

I didn't even know there was such a thing - I'd heard of winter tires, but I've never heard of a winter wiper. Makes sense, but I had just never heard of it.

FWIW, I just buy a wiper, and remove the rubber blade and metal spines and feed 'em into the "claws" on the OEM wiper. it works. (coincidentally, I just bought a new one last night to put in this weekend.)

oh yeah, and don't forget about the winter antenna's too. just kidding. i didn't know there were winter wiper blades until two years ago either. they're like solid pieces, no holes, crevices and such for snow/ice to get compacted inside like regular wipers do. regular wipers are super annoying, they'll get caked up with snow/ice and then the blade won't have a smooth contact surface and well it just doesn't do anything but smear.

Older subaru wipers with the old schoolclips are difficult to get in the better wiper grades, here in Aus, so I just cut the old style off the end of the arm and bolted a newer style on.

Works for me...

I now have a premium blade, with no rigging whatsoever with a built in aerofoil. Just like the NEW cars

bump. I put a RainX blade on my '6 yesterday. went to harbor freight, bought some Alumiweld sticks. then to Home Depot and bought a chunk of 1/16" thick 3/4" square aluminum stock and a 1/4" aluminum rod. and with that, a torch, and an air grinder, made this:


screws perfectly to the '6 wiper arm, and then onto the bracket on the blade:


the blade cannot rotate far enough to come off the rod until the arm is lifted almost completely off the vehicle. it's very sturdy, and the blade is awesome!!

Did you solder the rod on to the channel?
I'm gonna make something simular as there is a big turnaround on the factory wipers. Also my window is eating wipers.

Little of topic:
My window is scratched from 20 years of gravel roads and salt. Has anyone tried to polish it up again to make it smooth?
Maby i should just replace the window as i have to take it out anyway to seal it properly in the top.
